Heath & Alexas Kenwood Wedding

When we found out we were going to be Heath and Alexa’s wedding videographers we were so excited. The wedding was hosted at a beautiful private estate located in the hills of Kenwood, California. Griffin and I knew this wedding was going to be big and would take a lot of planning to get it right. A few weeks before the wedding we took a trip out to Kenwood to meet up with Alexa and her Father at the venue. We discussed all the details, big and small.

While wandering the venue we kept an eye out for anything that struck us as a “must have” in the final product. The place was giant! It felt like everything was a “must have.” The drone was our best friend on the day of the wedding. It was the one way we could capture the size of the venue.

A large portion of the bridal party photos took place in front of the main entrance doors. It gave us the perfect opportunity to get some great shots while the wedding party was focused on the photographer.

It was a hot day and was hard not to want to take a dip in the infinity pool. While Alexa got ready inside Heath and his groomsmen jumped in the pool overlooking the hills. It made for some natural looking footage.

For this wedding, we spent the entire day at the event. To start we shot as much establishing footage as we could before the guests arrived. Without all the guests it was easy to roam the venue and fly the drone without being disruptive. Getting to the event early gave us time to breathe and fully prepare for the rest of the day. Once the guest started showing up there were few opportunities to rest.

Heath and Alexa along with the wedding planner did a great job making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Every shot was full of smiles which made our job a lot easier.

As the night was coming to an end we still couldn’t stop thinking about how fun it was to fly the drone over the venue. For one final shot of the day, we rushed to the car and got the drone setup. Flying it at night was an interesting challenge, but it paid off when we got a chance to see the footage.
